Coming off our First Podium in a USAC National Race battling the "King" of Non Wing Jon Stanbrough, Iceman promptly broke Levi Jone's Track record at Grandview Speedway with a blistering 13.52 second lap on the big 3/8 mile track. Reality at Lincoln with a tough qualifying run where the Wall Bit back... Iceman back in Indy with consecutive top 5's at Gas City and Putnamville... Driver 14 is Hot this Summer. High's and Lows during the USAC Eastern Storm tour for Coleman. While battling for 5th at Grandview with Bryan Clauson, the Brake Rotor broke ending our night where we set the new Track Record. Then at Lincoln Speedway, Coleman hauled the stout 14 car into turn 1 on his qualifying lap and the Right Rear caught the wall, sending Coleman for a wild ride. The following night at New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey, The Iceman was flying in the A Main. He started 16th in the A and was 9th in 6 laps. Then a "left over" issue from the previous nights crash reared its ugly head and we were done for that night.
However, notice was served that The Iceman belongs with the very best Sprint Car Drivers in the World. Said Jon Stanbrough after his dog fight with Coleman on opening night of the Eastern Storm, "I knew he was there; I heard him a couple of times". "I just ran my line knowing that if he got by, I would have to change my line to try to get him back". "He ran a great race but I am glad we got him". Big words from the Best Ever to run a non wing Sprint Car.
Since returning to Indiana, Coleman has battled up front in all his races, bringing home 4th at Gas City and 5th at Putnamville in his first ever race at that facility. He has been fast and his Crew Chief Brian Cripe and Tire "Stagger Man" Billy Mihok have given The Iceman fast cars.
It is only a matter of time before we are in Victory Lane with the very best. Coleman is a threat every night and the top dogs in Indiana Racing have to account for him in every race.
