2012 Chili Bowl Qualifying Schedule

The 2012 Chili Bowl Qualifying Schedule is set and the Iceman will compete on Wednesday, January 11 for his shot in the Saturday A Main. Iceman is on the Schedule with 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champ Tony Stewart, Multi Chili Bowl Champion Sammy Swindell and the King of Non Wing Sprints Jon Stanbrough. 60+ Cars on the Schedule that night. Tough sledding for sure but Coleman and the Bob East owned car look forward to the challenge.

2011 USAC National Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year Coleman Gulick tapped by legendary chassis builder and car owner Bob East to pilot a Midget Entry in the 2012 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa Oklahoma.

When Bob East and his Son Bobby were putting together their plans for the upcoming Chili Bowl Nationals in January of 2012, they were looking for someone with experience, ability and a proven record of success in open wheel. Although only 18 years of age, Coleman Gulick of Binghamton, New York put together a season of success in 2011 that garnered the attention of many throughout the open wheel ranks. Gulick, now residing permanently in North Vernon, Indiana is coming off a season where he captured 7 feature wins in the 410 Non Wing Sprint Car ranks in Indiana and Illinois. Included in these A Main Feature Wins were prestigious victories in the Dick Gaines Memorial at Lawrenceburg Speedway, the Vince Osman Memorial at Kokomo Speedway and the Inaugural Terminator 2000 at Farm City Speedway in Illinois. Also, Gulick’s efforts in his first year touring with the USAC National Sprint Car series, earned him Rookie of the Year Honors for the Historic Touring Series.

Coming off our First Podium in a USAC National Race battling the "King" of Non Wing Jon Stanbrough, Iceman promptly broke Levi Jone's Track record at Grandview Speedway with a blistering 13.52 second lap on the big 3/8 mile track. Reality at Lincoln with a tough qualifying run where the Wall Bit back... Iceman back in Indy with consecutive top 5's at Gas City and Putnamville... Driver 14 is Hot this Summer. High's and Lows during the USAC Eastern Storm tour for Coleman. While battling for 5th at Grandview with Bryan Clauson, the Brake Rotor broke ending our night where we set the new Track Record. Then at Lincoln Speedway, Coleman hauled the stout 14 car into turn 1 on his qualifying lap and the Right Rear caught the wall, sending Coleman for a wild ride. It has been said it takes several races to become adjusted to the Speed and eccentricities at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway. The Iceman's first visit netted him a 4th Place Finish in his first race at the famed facility and Coleman was 1/100 of a second off fast time in qualifying.
